IIT / IIIT B.Des Admission Guidelines for UCEED 2026 Qualified Candidates

1. Application Link & Fee
- Link: https://portal.iitb.ac.in/bdesapp/Use the username and password created at the time of UCEED application to login.
- Fee: Rs 4,000 for all candidates. Covers application & all seat allotment rounds. The fee is non-refundable & non-transferable.
2. Participating Institutes
This application is for admission to B.Des program at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur.

Note: Applicants will be able to edit their application form, including the order of preference of institutes and resubmit it till the closing date of the application period. However, after the closing date, all institute choices and information filled in the applications are treated as FINAL.
4. Eligibility Criteria to Apply for Admission
Candidates who meet following three criteria can apply for admission to the B.Des program at participating institutes.
Criteria 1 – Age: Candidate should be born on or after 1 October 2001 for OPEN / EWS / OBC-NCL categories and should be born on or after 1 October 1996 for SC / ST / PwD categories.
Criteria 2 – UCEED Qualification: Candidate should have qualified i.e. obtained a rank in UCEED 2026 exam.
Criteria 3 – Base Qualification: Candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with minimum 5 subjects (all 5 subjects should be passed) in 2025 or 2026 year. Those who appear for the first time in 10+2 or equivalent exam in 2024 or earlier are not eligible to apply.
Notes:
a. In addition, certain institutes have stream & subject requirements at the 10+2 exams for admission. Below table provides the stream and subject eligibility for different participating institutes.

b. Candidates appearing for 10+2 in 2026 need to complete all parts of their final examination by the date of application for admission. In case the 10+2 exam is not getting completed by the final date of application, candidates must contact UCEED office by email addressed to uceed@iitb.ac.in and get a special approval.
c. Proof of having passed the 10+2 exam with required eligibility needs to be submitted / uploaded by 30 September 2026. If the final result is in the form of grades, the candidate should obtain certificate from the Board specifying the passing grade and upload it along with the grade result.

6. Rank Cut offs – Category wise
Given below are the closing ranks / cut off ranks for each category at each participating institute. Candidates should compare their own ranks with these cut offs when deciding to apply for the B.Des program at IITs / IIITs.

7. Documents Required for Application
Candidates have to follow the step by step process to submit the application. The following documents need to be uploaded while completing the application. Keep the documents ready in the right file size.

Note: NCL and EWS certificates need to be issued on or after 1 April 2026.
8. Seat Allotment Process & Rules
Maximum FIVE rounds of seat allocation will be conducted. However, the seat allocation will be closed once the seats are filled. Below is the schedule:

A seat will be provisionally allotted based on the applicant’s All India Rank (AIR) in UCEED 2026, category and choice of institutes.
Selected candidates will be sent provisional allotment letters via their registered email. They will be directed to an online payment system to remit the Seat Acceptance Fee of ₹60,000 for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD.
- If a candidate does not pay the fee for the allotted seat by the deadline or declines the offered seat, their application will stand cancelled and they cannot participate in future rounds.
- If a candidate is allotted their first choice, they must ACCEPT (“freeze”) the seat. If they decline, the seat allocation will be cancelled and they will not be considered for future rounds.
- If the candidate is allotted their second / third / fourth etc. choice, they can either ACCEPT (“freeze”) or ACCEPT WITH OPTION FOR UPWARD MOVEMENT (“float”).
- If a candidate selects the FREEZE option, they have accepted the seat and will not participate in further rounds.
- If a candidate selects the FLOAT option, they accept the current seat but can move to a higher preference institute if offered in the next round.
- In both Freeze or Float cases, the candidate must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee mentioned in the allotment letter. Failure to pay will result in cancellation of the seat.
- The Seat Acceptance Fee is paid only once. If a candidate gets upgraded due to the float option, they do not need to pay again.
- The Seat Acceptance Fee will be adjusted against the tuition fee of the admitting institute.
- If a candidate declines the seat after paying the fee, the refund will follow the admitting institute policy (similar to UGC guidelines with minimal deduction).
- If no seat is allocated in a round, the candidate will automatically be considered for the next round.

Given below is the fee structure per semester for the 2025 intake. The fees are not expected to change substantially for 2026 intake.
