In wake of the COVID19 pandemic, NIFT has issued a notification on 18th June 2020, for revised selection criteria for admission to different programs for the academic year 2020-21. See below:
|NIFT Program||Criteria for 2020 Selection and Admission|
|1. Bachelor of Design (B.Des)||The Situation Test has been cancelled for admission to NIFT B.Des program. Admission will be on the basis of marks obtained in Written Exam (CAT & GAT papers) given in January 2020. The Merit list based on these marks has been finalized and announced on 25th June 2020.|
|2. Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech)||The result with Merit List declared for NIFT BFTech program on 13th March 2020 is final. Admissions will be on the basis of this merit list.|
|3. Masters Program:
– Master of Design (M.Des)
– Master of Fashion Technology (MFT)
– Master of Fashion Management (MFM)
|Group Discussion has been cancelled for all masters programs. Online Interviews have been scheduled from 1st July 2020 onwards. Online Interviews will have 30% weightage in the final admission. The merit list for admission will be announced once the Online Interviews are concluded.|
On 25th June 2020, NIFT has announced the final results and merit list for admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program based on marks obtained in Written Exam (CAT & GAT papers) conducted in January 2020. About 6,000 students are estimated to have cleared the NIFT B.Des Written Exam (CAT & GAT papers) and received a Common Merit and Category Merit rank. NIFT offers 6 different programs under Bachelor of Design (B.Des) through its 16 campuses across India. The 6 different programs under B.Des are- Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Fashion Communication Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design and Leather Design. The 16 NIFT campuses are situated at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Kangra, Kunnur, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Rae Bareli, Srinagar, Bhopal, Shillong.
NIFT will conduct an Online Counseling process for admission to different NIFT programs and campuses. NIFT has not announced the detailed process for the Online Counseling yet. The number of seats in NIFT programs for admission in 2020 have increased by 20% over 2019. The seats available for admission in different NIFT programs in 2020-21 are as below:

Highlight: SILICA students have performed exceptionally well in the NIFT 2020 results for B.Des program. SILICA student Amulya Deshmukh has got All India Rank 3. Overall, there are 3 students in Top 10 All India Ranks and still counting. Over 500+ SILICA students have cleared the NIFT 2020 exam. Congratulations to all SILICA students.
